I don't know if it is my place to say, but I received word from Pat's son that Pat Browning passed away last week. I hadn't seen it on the board so I am not sure if anyone knew. I apologize if it isn't my place, but he was a great asset and a wonder of knowledge and I thought others should know. I for one will miss his knowledge on the H and many other topics.

I am terribly sad to hear about Pat. This web site has lost a great asset. He helped me and many others on a daily basis. He will be missed.

Kris:

Thanks for the notice, for I am very sorry to hear the word of Pat's passing. I wondered why I had not seen any postings here from him in the past week. He was a significant asset to my recent H27278 restoration. We emailed each other often over the past 1.5 years. His books & website is a very important attribute to the model H tractor. Recently, he had asked me to review his governor bearing article for Green Magazine and I really appreciated seeing the recommendations I made in print. He was always seeking help to provide the best solutions & offered wisdom/knowledge from years of experience that was unmeasurable. He will be greatly missed.

My deepest sympathy to family & friends,

That is indeed sad news. Pat was a forum member for many years and had a wealth of knowledge about John Deere tractors. A very nice gentleman and always willing to help others. He will be missed.

I just found this on the internet awhile ago.
My wife and I helped him with one of his books in research and editing. He was a great man, and alway willing to help. Alot of knowledge had gone to rest.

Thanks for the notice.

Pat Browning was a wealth of knowledge and will be greatly missed on this forum.

He occasionally used one of his "sayings"; one of my favorites is "The best time to eat crow is while its still warm."

Very sorry for his loss and my condolences to his family.

That is truly a loss. As one of the younger members here (27 years young), it is really hard to see many of these great people with knowledge I wish I had pass on. It seems in the last year we have lost some really great tractor guru's like Pat & Duane Larson. I try to soak up as much as I can from everyone on here because a lot of this information gets passed down and often times isn't written down. Luckily Pat has gotten a lot of good information onto paper that can be used by the rest of us. My deepest condolences.

This is very sad news. I have been looking on this forum for almost a year now while I was working on my AR. I posted many questions and Pat was always one of the first to post an answer for me. I will miss reading his posts.

RIP Pat!

Kris, thanks for letting us know. So sorry to hear this. He made great contributions to the board right to the end.

My sympathy to his family. Yep my close personal friends Don Ward and Duane Larson (True experts and gentlemen) passed and now Pat. He and I discussed meeting up this winter when I go to Florida BUT IT WASNT TO BE......He mentioned a pretty serious health problem but I didnt know it was that serious.........

When this post is pretty well complete I think I"ll copy the URL Link and e mail it to his website e mail so hopefully his son or other family member can see our remarks.

His son is the one who informed me. Pat was helping me on a charging issue, that you also weighed in on about a month ago. I wanted to tell him he was correct in his diagnosis and that I got the charging system working. I also thought of pointing them in this direction to show how he helped us and touch our lives...

My sympathy to his family!
Don Ward was the first person "out of state" that I spoke to after I bought my 730D. He was absolutely a fine person. He was patient, very knowledgeable, and truly interested in solving tractor problems.
I met Duane Larson at a tractor show in 2001. Another fine person. I bought some points and condensors for the pony motor from him. He offered to bring them to the show to save me the shipping. I am so gald that he did, I got to meet one of the true professional tractor people, of which there are many.

I too will miss his advice and help quite a bit. He and I emailed each other less than a month ago about an oil pressure issue I'm having with my H. My deepest condolences to his family. A great loss to the old John Deere community.

Well, I sure hate to hear about Pat's passing. He was very knowledgeable and helpful to everyone, newbie and veteran alike. He always seemed like the kind of guy you'd like to live next door to.

My sincere condolances to the family. We have all lost a great friend and helper with our problems. DW

I am very sorry to hear of Pats passing. He was very helpful to me. I always enjoyed reading his post, especialy his closing with be blessed. I will miss reading his posts. I am sure he is where he wants to be.

I am deeply saddened by this news and I feel a terrible sense of loss. We talked about the new governor bearing he was having made for the model H. I'm glad I have one. The tractor community has lost a great friend. rw

Never a whiner and always ready with facts to support his posts. There was word of his health issues over a year ago on here and yet he never spoke of it and one wouldn't have ever known it . Spirited JD discussion man. Didn't know it all himself and didn't mind confronting some who thought they did. A loss to all , the void will be felt on this forum. Heart felt sympathy to his family. God's got a wealth of JD info now. The sky may seem a little "greener" in the future. Pat , they must have needed an "H" man up there.

We have lost another great guy, and a wealth of information about our hobby. Pat will truly be missed by all of us. I count myself fortunate to have gotten advice from Pat and from Don Ward and Duane Larson. My hope for us is that as we lose these great guys to a better place we all remember that we are the next generation to help out those just starting out.

Along with all the others, I too offer my condolences to his family and friends. I never met the man or communicated with him but I have always enjoyed reading his posts. He was always quick to respond to questions with knowledge and helpfulness, never belittling anyone or making then feel unwelcome for asking. His insight, experience, and obvious friendliness will be missed here and certainly elsewhere too.

Pat and his website were a huge help with my recent restoration of my john deere B whenever i could not quite come up with the answer Pat always seemed to be one of the first ones to chime in, I was just thinking this morning that i had not seen a post from "Radiator Bolt Man" in a few. RIP Pat

There will be some big shoes to fill here with him gone.

So sorry to hear of Pat's passing. He was such a wealth of knowledge on these 2 bangers. Were all going to miss him greatly. He was a great guy to do business with. So honest and really wanted to help this hobby. I'm sure he'll be watching as we continue on. Good by Pat.

I am very sorry for the loss of Pat. He always went way beyond the extra mile to help anyone, me included. Paul in Mississippi

Pat helped me out a lot with my grandpa"s tractor. He had a special way of helping the novice mechanic such as myself. Always quick with an answer by phone or email. I often refer to his books he has published. All my prayers go out to you and your family. I will think of you each time my bottom sits on that green seat. RIP! Marc in North Dakota

I never met him but communicated a short time through emails helping me with my project. His generosity in helping other will be missed.
