Has anyone had any luck drilling the studs out on there tractor.I have 2 that are snapped clean.Any suggestions? I tried welding a bolt to it but no luck.Up for suggestions.

I've drilled a hole through them about half the size of the bolt, then heated them with the torch, after they cooled a big easy out screwed them right out.

after i heat up any of the bolts I 've broken off I spray it with WD-40 or PB Blaster. And the drilling out helps. Especially if you can get penetrating oil behind the broken bolt.

Drill a hole all the way up through the broken bolt so you get into the cavity above the bolt. Start small and work up to as big a drill as you can without drilling threads out, you don't have to be exactly centered. Fire up your torches, make sure the cutting tip is clean and crank up the oxygen line presure too 50psi. Now get the shell of the broken bolt red hot and hit the O2 while sweeping the tip around. You can burn the steel bolt out and not hurt the casting. Run a tap in to clean the slag out and you are good to go.

i just did this on our 49 b during restoration, someone had heated them and they were hard, i ended up mounting a drill press on a stool to help with drilling and holding steady, i drilled them right out and installed helicoil's in the holes with JB weld to hold them soild in the holes,
