John Deere F725 front mower

Hello,

I have an older JD f725 mower with a little problem. It runs great for 20 min. or a half hour, then it starts to die like it is out of gas. If I choke it and turn off the deck, I can usually make it back to the shed. If I let it cool down for a couple of hours, I can go mow for another 20 min. New fuel filter didn"t help. I took off the carb and cleaned out the float bowl and squirted carb cleaner every place I could without taking the whole thing apart. That didn"t help either. I thought maybe the fuel pump was not working properly. It works great when I opperate it by hand, could engine heat cause the fuel pump to not work? Am I missing something else obvious?

My friend has a 935 mower. Inside the fuel tank there is fuel "clunks" which slosh around the tank and pick up the fuel. They are made up of fuel tubing, and at least on his machine they fall off when they get old.

Does that have the electric fuel shutoff on the carb bowl? My friend has a LX188 with that electric fuel shutof with the same symptoms. Replaced it and now good to go.

I found the problem. The vent hose on the gas tank was plugged. Simple problem, simple solution. Thank you for the help.

Hello!

I think I am dealing with this same problem but my vent hose is badly deteriorated and I am not sure where it is supposed to attach. I have the end connected to the end of the gas tank, but where does it go after coming back over the top of the tank?

Thanks in advance.
