Unknown JD implement

I have a JD implement that is about 8 foot wide with an 8 inch rubber tire on each end with a series of curved wire spring teeth on it. I can't find anyone who knows what it is. The only part number is on a sprocket E12418E. It has a JD tag that says model E and a serial number. Any ideas?

I have a john deere model E manure speader

you can"t go by serial numbers on early jd equiment. i have two jd bush hogs that the serial number on them is both one. you do have a hay fluffer. i"ve only seen one other. restore it and show it. it light wieght so you could move it around real ease.

You have a hay fluffer #2 or #3, the wheels acted as a brake to make the reel turn just a little slower that ground speed. The hay from the swath (not raked) would drive the reel and would lift the hay. Worked real good in light hay when you didn't need it, would slide the wheels in heavy hay or when raked. Make a good item to put of the front lawn

Thanks for all the replys. I'd seen hay tedders but never heard of a "fluffer", now I can try to find a parts book as some of the "tines" are broken. Yes, I plan to fix it up for display.

The reason the serial umber said "One" on both items is that it actually reads "SERIES" number. '45' loaders were like that too.

I sure like the looks of that restored manure spreader! Many years ago I bought a New Idea #14 spreader that had nothing much left except metal framing. When I finished with it, it looked good but not as good as yours. Nevertheless, my wife accused me of loving it more than I loved her. She about went into shock when I sold it.
