36 or 38 inch Tires

Are there any advantages to 12.4-38 inch tires over 12.4-36 inch tires? They would be on a John Deere A. I have 36's right now but have a broken wheel. I can't decide whether to find another matched spoke wheel or replace what I have with 38 inch hardware.

Anybody have any 38 inch tires for sale?

If the cast center hub is cracked on your 36" spoke wheel, as many did, there is a generally accepted repair. Make, or have made, a 3/4" steel ring with the bolt pattern drilled in. Install the ring between the bolts/lockwashers and the cracked wheel hub. Make sure you replace the original bolts with new grade 8 bolts that are 3/4" longer. This is in one of the publications I have. I cannot remember which. The repair looks nice in the example in the book, especially after paint. It is not original but neither is changing to 38 inch wheel equipment.
