How to tell Factory Flat Spokes

How are factory flat spoke wheels for an Unstyled JD A different/distinguishable from flat spoke cut-offs?

The factory flat spokes have that nice factory dished out "swell peen" where the spokes attach to the outer rim, kinda like how the round spokes attached NOT A WELD. while the cut offs have the spokes welded. I cant describe it but you can sure tell the difference when you see them.

The term cutoff refers to original steel wheels, either front or back, that the spokes were cut to remove the outer steel portion of the wheel and then had a rubber tired rim welded to the spokes. The best way visually is to look were the spoke attaches to the rim. On cutoff wheels you will see signs where the rim was welded to the spokes. On factory flat spokes were the spoke attaches to the rim the spoke will have a flared end. Note that factory flat spokes were first offered as an option on the styled A and where listed as replacement wheels for unstyled tractors.
A good book that explains this in detail is "The Unstyled Model A" by Wes Malcolm and is offered for sale by Green Magazine.

Notice how the flat spokes are welded to the "spacer" that is welded to the wheel.

Take a look at the JD factory round spoke wheel below.
