john deere horse drawn manure spreader

Does anyone know how to find the year of manufacture of an old manure spreader? John Deere is very faint on both sides, but the hub clearly states JD 2403.

A picture of it would go a long way to start, and then once the model is determined you would have to go to a parts books and compare casting numbers., because implements back then didn't use serial numbers yet, so to note changes they used years of production and that's how you can get pretty close to the year

I did download a picture but don't where it went. I'm new to this. I'll try again.

I think it is a JD E. If you look at old pictures on the implement photos a couple look like yours. I would guess from 20s and 30s.

Could you please email the advertisement? I'm trying to get a handle on what this spreader is worth.
Thanks in advance,
Sue

Does this spreader have the unusual rack and pinion steering on the front axle? If it does, it is a model D. They were made from 1926 to 1932.
