AB 4860 R starter switch on a 50

Just put a new switch on and no current coming off the side screw. Anybody run across this before. Painted the starter up real nice before I put the switch on, is it possible it's not grounding properly? Plenty of juice on the big cable.

Rob, you won't get any current off this terminal until the main starter switch is engaged. This is the terminal that feeds your bypass start system. It is only operative during cranking. Hope this helps. Mike

The old switch didn't have the side ternimal so the wire going to the switch on the dash was connected to the battery cable post at the starter. Before the lights would come on with the tractor off, now they won't.

Rob, if you are using the side terminal to go to your light switch your lights never will work. Put the wire on the same large terminal as your old switch and ignore the bypass terminal if your tractor is not wired for it. Mike

Just wondering if the original wiring was changed in the past. My serial number matches the switch. The parts book also shows a fuse, no fuse can be found on mine. Thanks Mike.

I've been reading in the archives about the wiring of the starter on this tractor. I had no idea.
