4020 Injector banjo bolts and washers

Got my bendix injectors back and put back in. I cleaned the bore greased the barrel and they went right in. Then I put on the bolts and lines. I was careful to clean each bolt with laquer thinner and then clean off with compressed air same with the washers. After they were all on I started it and two of the connections started leaking. The connections are all extremely tight. Should I get new washers and try again or is there something else out there that will work?

Try to tighten more, sometimes they have to be very tight to deal. You do have 2 washers per banjo bolt correct? One on each side of fuel lines.

Some times the banjo fittings get a rough edge on them and loosening them up and re-tighten them helps, if that don't do it change the washer out again, if that don't do it "carfully" file the banjo fitting a little to 'flaten' it out, and try again..if they are on a little bit of a bind that can cause it too..

Yeah I got two per bolt on them. I thought I remember seeing a post on here saying that they used an IH type of washer that would seal better. I tryed looking for it but cant find it

I had to resort to using copper washers on one our 4020s..........I'd filed the faces of the fittings on the fuel lines, used ALL new hardware(bolts and steel washers), and tightened the fittings to what felt like must've been 50 ft/lbs AND the fittings still leaked..........Finally I gave up and installed the copper washers, problem solved.........

What is the part number for the copper washers or where did you get them from. I got the new steel washers as tight as I possibly can....to the point that I"m afraid they will break.

Sorry,

I can't tell you what the P/N is since the washers I used came from an assortment box we've had for years............

I would imagine Deere could still get them if you told them what you're after?? Maybe the gurus here will know???

Any "well equipped" diesel injection repair shop will have them though................

I think I found them on JD parts it says the steel washer T20055 is a sub for T11292 and when I looked it up it says it is copper and they are 2 bucks a piece. I also looked up a 4320 and it has a similar sized washer, R48511, that is used to connect to the injection pump and it says the material is teflon and is .35 a piece. I wonder if that one for the 4320 might work.

I had to replace the high pressure line on my 4020D and used new JD steel washers. I was informed by a retired JD Service Manager that for the steel washers to placed "Flat side against the Banjo". Has anyone else heard of this?

Yes, the service manager is correct. Washers have a flat side and rounded side. Happens when they stamp out the washers at the factory. If you put rounded side to banjo it would collapse the inner area of banjo.
