Live hydraulic conversion on late Model B

Does anyone have pictures of an installed John Deere live power conversion kit (AA5615R or the other model of this kit, AA5609R, if I remember right)?

I have the pump, and it was previously plumbed to the Power-Trol on the tractor it came from. The lines had been cut, so I don't know the proper connections, or if there's a better way to install it, to avoid hoses going back to the Power-Trol box. I"m putting it on a late Model B (s# 22XXXX) and don"t have any instructions. A forum member in the restoration area mentioned that there might be a plate that has to be added inside the Power-Trol.

Erik;

I installed it on my G and I will get some close ups of installation and line routing when I get home and will post accordingly. If you have any questions let me know, I will gladly assist.

I bought one of these pumps for my 1950 BW. My plan is to keep it separate from the Powertrol using it to power a 45W loader. It have it"s own oil resevoir (4-5 gallons capacity) and it"s own control valve, with a built in relief valve. You need to add a filter on the return line as well. My plan is to weld the reservoir to the mounting post for the loader so the level is higher than the pump. (Hydraulic pumps don"t suck too well) I hope this is useful info for what you wish to do, and it keeps it away from the Powertrol.

Yes there is a plate that has to be installed between the powertrol housing and rockshaft housing, also the idler gear for the pto driven hyd pump has to be removed. the fitting in the bottom of the rockhaft housing has to be drilled out on a B to 1 1/2" pipe if i remember correctly to fit the suction fitting. The pressure line then goes into the side of the powertrol housing. Your parts book shows a good drawing of how it goes togeather.

Eric,

There are number of things that are to be done to install the live pump on A "B".

The suction line from the pump fits to the bottom of the powetrol sump with a special fitting.

The pressure line plumbs into the the powertrol

There is a blocking plate that must be installed between the powertrol and the rockshaft housing.

The PTO shaft pump must be disabled by removing the idler gear on the pump.

There is a John Deere Service bulletin (198) that goes into this in detail. It has been reproduced in Two Cylinder magazine in the last year or two, if you take that.

have this on my A with a dual 200 loader, sucks it from the bottom of the loader, lower than rest of tractor, through a filter just fine, even in -20 temps. these gear pumps will actually suck very hard if all the air is out. gets slower in the cold but remember its sucking through the filter too. also be careful with filters as they are not designed for pressure, could get a pinhole & pierce your skin or just make a huge mess.
