I have a friend that has a 60 standard LP serial
#6043841 60LP . If my information is correct their were only 26 of those ever made.I've been looking for any information on what seems to be a rare tractor. I would appeciate a response if anybody can help me

Hi ! My book says that the "LP" 60 was offered as an option at extra cost and that few were sold, mostly in areas where there was a refinery available for the low cost LP. Unfortunately, it doesn't say how many were sold.
Best I can do for you, maybe someone else can answer your question .
Best of luck with her !
Jim B.

The book I have, written by J R Hobbs, does say that there were only 26 model 60 LP high seat standards made, with the one you list being the first production tractor so equipped. Mike

Nice Tractor!
Just be prepared for a few tractor folks here on this board to start throwing offers to buy the tractor from you. . . not a problem if you (or your friend) are wanting to sell it, just do some research on its value first as the last two LP Standards that were bought for a fellas collection from here magically ended up on E-bay a few weeks later. The description said he realized he might not be able to complete part of his collection and was trying to sell them for quite a bit more than purchase price.
Again, not a big deal if it means nothing to you but just wanted to give you a heads up about all the tractor jockeys out there.

It wasnt magic that they ended up on eBay, I bought the 720 standard and 60 lp standard from a guy in florida, He wouldnt sell them separate so I had to take both of them. Sold the 720 because I had no interest in it, just listed the 60 to see what interest there would be in it, If I do find a 620 lp standard, ill gladly keep the set. Yes it is listed for more than I paid for it, but im sure youve never made a dollar on a tractor have you ohioguy.

Yes your friends 60 lp is one of 26 Built, Technically 1 of 25 as the very first one built was an experimental model and wasnt counted in the total production. If your friend is looking to sell it or do some trading, I would be interested, I too have one, but wouldnt be mad if I had two of them. Feel free to email me at [email protected] or call me at 507-256-4693, thanks! Happy Holidays

My list shows 25 But I do know that the first one isnt counted on it.
The first 60 LP Std just sold this past year in a package deal with two 430 LP's. went from Arkansas to the northeast.
The 60 has experimental casting numbers all over it and is Super sharp.

It's actually quite hard to make a dollar on a tractor these days. Particularly if one only has enough money to buy a plain, not rare 730. Even after restoration, the individual may not make a horrendous amount of money. ($500-1500 tops)

Is that the same seller that always sells things out of his personal collection even though he just got the tractors in a few days before. Also one week, he has parted 150 tractors, the next he has parted 300; yet he never has any of the parts when I email him and ask him about more common parts like a starter or engine parts.

Hello Harlan,
Im sure Ive made a few dollars on selling a tractor or two in the past, but at the same time I can tell you Ive lost a few dollars the same way. Typically when I buy a tractor its because I have a use, need, or want for it or some of the parts on it. If I sell a tractor its usually because Ill put the money toward something else of importance. If the tractor is in bad enough shape and Ive bought it for the parts then I try to sell off the rest to break even. I try to help folks get the parts they need at a fair price, which it seems the is impossible to achieve at the parts yards anymore. Ive also given away many pieces I did not need that someone else could use. I cant bring myself to break apart a good running tractor just to sell the parts for a profit. Would I take advantage of a situation if I could? Put it this way, I knew of a certain first production Dubuque tractor that was about fifteen minutes from me for some time before it sold this past year for 100K. The owners didnt know what they had and I helped inform them what a desirable piece of equipment it was. They needed the money more than I did.
I know you have your approach to tractors and parts and it works for you. Im sure youve helped people find things they need, its just a different approach than what I take.
I was not trying to single you out and didnt use any names, I just wanted to give the tractor owner an idea that he had a unique machine and that he might want to do his research if he was going to sell it. If I had something I didnt know anything about Id appreciate someone telling me what it was, thats all.
Also, by your own doing you proved me right with your post offering to buy the tractor.

Ohiotractorguy, I part out running tractors because I know the parts are good. Im not parting anything rare, If i part out a running unstyled B, there is still no shortage of them with 60,000 of them built, if i part out a running styled A, with over 300,000 of them built, im sure there are still enough out there for everybody. This is my business, it keeps my lights on and a roof over my families head. I sell parts at the prices people are willing to pay as 90% of them are sold on eBay regardless of price, dont get much more fair then that. Im not trying to drag anyone under the bus, but because I buy something, and then resell it doesnt make me a criminal

I apologize Harlan if Ive come across as being critical of you. Im not trying to be, like I said you have your way and I have mine. Differences are what makes life interesting. I dont depend on my tractors to make a living other than to grow some produce and maintain the farm, so guess I dont look at them from the prespective of a business. Sometimes its fun just to talk and use tractors, which is what I like to come the discussion boards for. I hope your selling continues to go well in the future, and Ill try to continue to help folks with their machines in my way. Cant ask for more than that!
