Does anyone have any information about the John Deere W111 power units such as a serial numbers by year, any books or any articles that have been published, things to watch out for or any other soucres of information. I want to buy one for my collection and don"t want to go into this not knowing what to look for. Thanks in advance. John

There were 4276 Type "W" engines made from 1933 to 1952. There were 3653 Type #111's made and 623 Type #113. Also, 33 Type W's made from 1925-26.

nhoj,
A good book that includes detailed info on the W series is "The John Deere Unstyled Letter Series" by J.R. Hobbs. It includes the s/n breaks by year for the W, as well as info on all the unstyled models of tractors. It's $24 from www.greenmagazine.com.

MSD, Thanks for the information and your reply to my post. I didn't of any W111 made in the early years of the "D". That would be a real find. John

You can download a parts catalog for W series at jdparts.com click on parts catalog section and enter model. CAT45R there also covers W & E engines and most unstyled tractors except the L series.

Ole Shovel, Thanks for the information on the parts catalog. Thats one book thats hard to find with low production units. John
