My 68 4020 is a 12 volt. 2 12 volt batteries. It has 2 lower front lights and 2 hi front lights mounted on cab roof. There are 2 hi rear lights mounted to the cab and one lower middle rear light. Right now I have two toggle switches in the panel. One runs all the fronts and one runs all the back lights. I had a bunch of misc parts shipped to me to fix a rim and such. I also had them send up a light switch and knob.

I have my shop manual but none of the wiring diagrams (3) look like what I have. one is 4020 gas, one is 4020 diesel running at 2x12 24 volt and the other is a 5000 series running 4x6? at 24 volt I think.

The switch has 3 positions besides off. D, B, L and off are the positions. Wonder what the letters stand for?

OK now for the back. I have 9 spades. 2 of these connect one to each side a ceramic wire coil. Left spade is labeled R, ..right spade is labeled HD2. There also is a spade inbetween these coil spades that is labeled TL2 at the 4 oclock pos is a spade labeled FL2. 7,8 and 9 oclock have spades labeled TL1, HD1 and FL1. Centrally located are 2 spades each labeled A and B. Anyone know what goes to what here?

TL1
TL2
HD1
HD2
FL1
FL2
R
A
B

Thanks for any info. These all must be power leads and ground to frame at the light. Also wondering where the Dash lamp should light on the switch. Or is it independant.

Thanks alot,
John

TXJIM,,

Thanks a bunch. Mucha appreciated. Any idea what the letters on the light knob mean? I will figure out which lights I want to tie together. Also wondering when the dash light illuminates on the factory version.

Thanks again,
John

We have a little newer 4020 and when I went to get a wiring diargram at the dealer's I think he told me there were like 5 different diagrams for the diesel models alone. You need the serial number so you can get the correct diagram not the year. Also if you have a 12 volt system and 2 12 volt batteries someone has changed some things as it should have 2 six volt batteries.
