I am looking at what appears to be a early 1960s JD 400 diesel backhoe. Is there a place on the web where I can get the specs on this baby? Any comments on this machine, the motor it would have in terms of longevity and power? Are parts still available? Any comments are welcome.
Thanks!

How capable is the hoe at removing stumps? At motoring itself around? I used to have a Case 580CK hoe and the torque converter was a nightmare. Have you replaced the clutch on yours? The one I am considering has blue primer under the yellow paint as does one of the machines pictured on teh wierddeere website. was the blue paint a primer?
Thanks for all the information!!

Also the 202 can be updated with 219 parts. Same engines in the 2510 and 2520 ag tractors.

Does anyone know the correct Diesel Injector # for a 1967 JD 400?

I"m still using one, NOT an orphan, many of the parts/designs were used up until the Deere 310-C, 410-C came out. Very reliable, very repairable. Some AG parts are interchangeable.

Parts should be available through JD and may have to go through a industrial dealer. http://jdparts.deere.com and industrial manuals from JD at www.jdtechinfo.com 866-213-3373. If we're talking about the same backhoe find some info on the Weird Deere site.
