John Deere G Wiring Diagram

I just got a new "original" generator and voltage regulator for my G, and could use some help in wiring the tractor. The wires from the regulator to the field and armature are already installed.

Tractor serial 25251
12V
Pos ground
3-terminal saddle-type regulator (no “L” terminal)

My parts book has a real poor diagram that shows a wire coming from the light switch to the "Field" terminal on the generator, and a hot wire from the amp meter to the "BAT" terminal of the regulator. It also shows a fused wire from the amp meter output terminal to the light switch, and a wire going from the switch to the lights.

The wire going from the light switch to the generator field terminal does not make sense to me, but if it’s accurate, does the wire connect to the input side or the output side of the light switch? (My light switch is a single-pole toggle switch, which I doubt is original and may add to my confusion.)

Any pointers or a wiring diagram, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks;

Clyde Dugan

P. Browning: I tried sending an e-mail and it would not go out for some reason, so here is the mailing address:

Thanks, I appreciate the help.
