I tried to use my ill neighbor's 345 mower/tractor and found that the hydraulics do not work. This model needs hydraulics for drive power, steering and deck height. My neighbor is mentally ill and is no help at all with the machine. I have been using my mower, but I would prefer to use his on his 1 acre lot. The Hydraulic oil is topped up but there is no pressure. Any ideas what to do. Dealer repair is out of the question at present. Motor runs well.

Maybe this goes without saying but there is a hydrostat disconnect linkage. It pulls out, I think above and to the right of the hitch. It allows you to push the machine like its in nutral. If its disconected Im sure the machine wont drive.

The "charge pump" in the transaxle supplies oil for the hydraulics and keeps the hydrostatic pump and motor circuit charged with oil.

Is the drive belt from the engine turning the pulley and cooling fan on top of the transaxle? If the pulley and fan are turning, there may be a key or splines sheared between the pulley and the transaxle input shaft.

Inside the transaxle, there is a pin that keys the inner rotor of the gerotor oil pump to the input shaft. These have been known to shear, too.
