This is the best way if you don't want to damage your parts. Very little hammering or heat involved. I took off 4 rear hubs that had been rusted on the axle for years, in one day. Hope this helps.

We have taken off many stuck wheels by taking a 8 ton bottle jack. hooking a small chain through the holes in the rim opposite sides of each other. then simply start jackin away and soak with penetrating oil for a few hours. It starts poppin off like u wouldn't believe. Works like a charm.

You can make a simple puller from a piece of steel plate (at least 1/2" thick)and three long bolts to match the holes in the hub. Drill holes in the plate in a triangular pattern to match the hub. Use by tightening the bolts to pull the hub towards the end of the axle while the plate is pulled tight to the end of the axle. A series of spacers may be necessary if you have to re-set the puller several times to complete the process. Plenty of penetrating oil, some heat and tapping the plate with a heavy hammer will also help.

A Large Pain: My right side large tractor tire on my 1948 JD B needed to slide off 8 inches to
turn the cast wheel around.
Lots of PB Blaster all along the way.
Clean the splines off with a chisel to remove paint and rust.
Run a pull/strain chain from one slot to the opposite slot in the cast wheel.
Remove the hub retainer piece.
Put a Port-a-Power between this chain and the axle
end.
Pump up plenty of strain between axle end and wheel hub.
Use an 8 lb sledge hammer and alternate whacks on the inside of the wheel 180 degrees apart.
Keep drenching the axle spline both sides of the cast wheel with PB Blaster and WD-40.
When you are exhausted and ready to quit it may have moved half the distance you want.
Good luck with your large PAIN.

If all you're doing is changing a tire; do it with the tire on the tractor; that's what the pros do..... .....

If it has the cast center wheels, take the cast wheel loose from the hub, this helps quite a bit. take the collar off, start soaking hub/axle with penetrating oil, (PB blaster works good). I like to heat them up good first, let them cool then add the penetrating oil.clean what you can of the axle good. Then start hammering (prefer to use a block of wood to keep from wrecking hub). If this doesn't work GET A BIGGER HAMMER.

Guess I must have got lucky the way it sounds.
I just sprayed it down with blaster and drove
it down the road and it started sliding off.
