How long are the mower brackets for the hitch on a #5 mower? I bought a pair at a sale and when I got home found that one was 11 3/4" and the other was 13 3/4". These are the angle iron with the round mount that go on a later "B" drawbar. Maybe one is supposed to be longer? They look like a matched pair with no modifications.

The No.5 mower book only shows one set.
However looking at the OM for a No.38 mower it shows two different sets of the same basic style.
One set has two sets of holes to attach to to the tractor drawbar. Does your longer one by chance have two sets of holes in it? Just mount it to match the shorter one and you should be OK.

Jeff,

I have 3 pairs of those brackets on a shelf out in the shop. All of mine are 11 3/4" long. Not sure why one of yours is longer than the other. Looked in my parts catalog to see if there were different ones available for it shows just the one set available. As long as the round pegs are even when you mount them on the tractor they'll work ok.
