Running a loader off of live hydraulics

I have a JD 70 and would like to know if a loader hydraulics can be connected to the live hydraulic pump with minimal changes made to the hydraulic lines on the tractor going to the powertrol. If so, please describe in detail how to do this or send me a diagram.

Thankyou very much for any info

Just thinking about the arrangement here. You will have to cut the pressure line and braze in a tee . You'll have to run the powertrol as power beyond after the loader valve, if my thinking is straight. Might be best to get the pressure line from a salvage yard and butcher it instead of the one on your tractor. That way you can put the origional back on when/if this doesn't work. Jim

It won't work to put a tee in the line. If the loader valve is just teed into the line you will not build any pressure due to the open center in the power trol. You will need to run the pressure line to the loader valve inlet and from the loader valve out to the power trol. Make sure the loader valve has a relief valve set at the same or lower than system pressure as this arrangement will be before the system relief in the power trol housing. Also, make sure the loader valve is OPEN center.

Cliff, I woke up last night and told myself "what were you thinking"? A tee won't work!! It was a matter of engaging the brain before engaging the mouth!! Jim

(quoted from post at 07:27:21 03/19/12) Then use the same pump with the loader.

I think you misunderstood foggymoon's original question. He asked how to plumb an ind loader valve to the live hyd pump. If I read his thread correctly he's intending to use the 70's hyd pump.

You need to cut the pressure line from the pump and feed it into the open center loader valve. The return side frome the valve should feed the presure port of the powertrol. Deere had an adapter that was basicly the slug on the end of the pressure line with 1/2" pipe threads on the inside to plumb in loader valves. That part might be in the loader parts book. I have a set of loader assembly instructions that discribe this, but I can't find them now.

What kind of loader? I have a model 45 loader on a JD 50 and the loader hydraulic lines plug into the remote outlets on the Power Trol unit. No changes needed on the factory system. Mine has trip bucket, but the 45 loader could be obtained with hydraulic bucket which I think worked off the same Power Trol remote outlets. Is something like that what you are wanting to do?

B&D i think if you read carefully thats what he wants to do why not just feed the valve from the tractor valve. lock it in lift side and run hoses to a 2 spool valve then you have psi and relife for that pump built in the power trol

Tx Jim you are exactly right. But i will need detailed info on how to do what you guys have suggested. I am not up on the lingo of hydraulics.
If there is a diagram I can reference please let me know.
Thanks everybody for your replys but please clarify.

Only line to alter is the small diameter high pressure line from the pump to the powertrol.
As previously stated use an open center loader valve(s) with a 1500psi relief valve.
Run the pump side of the high pressure line to the loader valve inlet. Connect the loader valve outlet to the high pressure line running into into the powertrol.

I have a Duall loader that has a hydraulic bucket.
Can I plug it into the powrtrol and get the same results?
Thanks
