4 Wheeler or small sprayer

I am needing a small sprayer to spraying some CRP ground, yard, waterways, and ditches. Am planning on getting 4 wheeler and a little 4-5ft boom sprayer.

Can't afford the 4 wheeler right now so I think I am going to go ahead and get a sprayer for it and make some mounting bracket to work on the 3pt hitch of my smaller tractor until I can afford the 4 wheeler.

Any recomendations or warnings as to what to look for in a sprayer like that? I am thinking just Rural King or Farm & Fleet and then running it off a 12volt pump-since that is what the 4 wheeler will have.

Paul

I use several 12 volt pumps, great things. I got mine from Northern Hydraulics, if I remember right. What I do is cut the return line and install a gate valve. Doing this allows me to make the pump run the entire time I am spraying rather than the quick on/off/on/off/on/etc that normally happens.

Good Luck,

I bought a 25 gallon sprayer last year from Tractor supply. No booms, just a hand wand and it is 12v. I think it is the handiest thing ever. Mine has an 'on demand' pump, so the pump only starts when you squeeze the trigger.

I'm a big fan of 4 wheelers, BUT since you have a tractor and used sprayers are cheap and plentiful... I know I'm not answering your question. I'm just giving you some alternative thoughts. After several hours tractors ride better than ATV's. A PTO roller pump will outlast a 12 volt pump. The booms will be 20' to 30', you can cut them off to whatever length you want. And the tank will be bigger. I use ATV's. I would like a sprayer for one, but I just cannot justify the cost of one. Good luck in you descision.
