Do I use gear oil or grease in my gear box on my 3pt post hole digger? I dont know what model I have, the tag is gone.
Also can my bits be sharpened?

I have a Danuser Auger and the manufacturer says not to use oil. They recommend a specific grease that I purchased at the auto supply store.

Oil is correct. Be careful in heavy soils especially with large diameter augers. Take small bites and keep the residue on the outside of the hole....short up and down motions....believe me.

I would think gear oil is best -
we turned our bits upside down - they go in GREAT - almost too fast in soft dirt
