The JD # is AH 15738 H but I don't know what the CR crossover # is. I think to get the flywheel off all you do is remove the cotterkey and nut and the thing slides off the splined shaft. I can't remember if it is tapered but I don't think so. You should be able to pop the seal out sith a screwdriver or small prybar. All the 90 wt. will drain out so have some to replace it. Sorry I don't have a good seal number for you. Maybe NAPA can cross reference it for you.

Most of the No.8 mowers have the flywheel seal integral with the Timken bearing. The very last No.8 mowers changed to a separate conventional seal like you are thinking about.

I think the removal of the flywheel will require a puller. If I remember correctly, the seal under the mower flywheel is a special tapered roller bearing cone that has the seal molded right to the bearing cone.
