Could someone please take a look at some picts I have posted and please tell me what type of mower this is? The seat is obviously from another mower. There is a picture of the axle with "NEW4" stamped on it. At the moment we're guessing this mower is from the 1920's, but I'm wondering if it's older. Thank you in advance.

WE have recently uncovered a MCComick New4 hay mower on some timberland in Oregon. Do you know where we could get parts. It has no tongue-- has been sitting in this woods for at least the last 27 years.

Bill,

I can't be sure but by looking at the picture in my parts manual I would have to say the lifting lever was made of wood.

No, the lifting arm is what you pulled back towards you while setting on the seat in order to lift the sickle bar. It was of wood, as well as the toungue, pitman rod, and single trees

I'm not sure what you are asking by type,it's a McCormick New 4 hay and grass mower built from 1896 to 1915. IHC came out with the model #6 after that.

That's what we were wondering. We assumed it was a McCormick because it said so on the axle. #4 was just a guess. Was this a one-horse or two-horse mower? And could you point me to a good picture of what it originally looked like? Thank you.
