Bob; We use a JD 348 with a wide pickup, In good conditions, we can fill an 18 ft wagon in about 15 min. It has 101 plunger strokes. My nephew has a 338, in large windrows he puts out a bale every 4 sec, a good 336 should do almost as good. Lary

The 337 would be 90 plunger strokes per minute the 327 something like 78 or 82 (I think, never really studied them that much, other than remembering they are lower). For a hundred acres of hay I wouldn't even consider the smaller baler or smaller pickup. I've got a 336 (90 ps/min also) and about 220 bales an hour is about all I can get it to physically bale. From start of bailing to end of running the bale wagon about 1500 bales per day is about all I can do. That's 8 acres of good timothy for me, would take forever to do a hundred acres, I only do about 80 acres in small squares and it kills me for about 6 weeks. I've been lusting over new balers but can't find one with higher capacity in a small square.

About 15 years ago, Dad and I used to put up 7,000 bales a summer with a 327, and never had a lick of trouble out of it. The 337 may be a more deluxe version, but I sure wouldn't shy away from the '27.

i work on my cousins farm and he owns a 327 and we havnt had a lick of trouble until this year when a piece of wire was scent through the knoter and it wore the right knoter and we spent 1500 dollars to buy 2 new knoters. Other than that it is a great baler

i bale around 5000 bales and i would go with the 327 instead of the 337 because i have run bolth of them and it is much more relyable and is much more easyer on the ground.

I have a JD337, which is just a more deluxe version of the 327. The big difference is in the pick up is 10 inches wider and has 6 rows of teeth verses 4 rows on the 327. A 337 has a cat 4 drive line and a 327 has a cat 3. I looked at both 4 years ago when I bought mine and went with the 337 becuase it was in better shape. Now that I have it I'm very glade that it has the wider pick up. Unless there is a big difference in price I would go with the 337. Bill
