Farmall A-187 plow coulters

Hello. I purchase a Farmall A-187 two-way mounted plow for my Farmall A. My buddy drove to Colorado to pick it up. Everything was there but the coulters. Would in certain soil would the farmer just take them off ? Seems strange everything was there but the Coulter?s and mounts. What are your thoughts on this. THANKS

around hear the colters are the first thing to go, I have a a-192 ? on my a and have been running it with out colters for the last 7 yr,s that way. but next year it will have the colters back on and mabey it will do a clener job. Bob

Hard to find a used 2 or 3 bottom plow with coulters and have often wondered why. I bought a 3 with one coulter and used two off a junked two bottom. Used the forks with new disks and bearings.

The good news is they are mostly the same regardless of manufacture, bad news is they are hard to find.

A cleaner job, yes, I agree. But it is 99% cosmetics and looks.
If you're using jointers I think you must have coulters too.

Anyone cares to comment?

When the ground is really hard, penetration is improved by raising the coulters. But I don't understand what purpose removing them would serve. Like S/N tags on tractors. Why are so many of them missing?
