IH #8 plow help

I can't get your picture, but a bracket near the coulter would most likely be for skimmers. I have an old IH plow(3furrow) with skimmers.

I will try again to upload photo later. Mine is 2 bottom and only has the bracket or clamp on the one coulter

Here?s photo

The picture is the clamp that holds the skimmers. My restored plow has three furrow/three skimmers. The skimmers were in the shed, my Dad had saved them for decades. When I refurbished the plow , I found the skimmers and put them on and I showed the plow at the International Plowing Match in 1999 at Dashwood Ontario. I also had an 8' IH spring tooth cultivator that was restored for the show.

Looks like the part is called "jointer" in the US, while it is called a "skimmer" in Canada.

I have them on my #8 plow. They look nice for shows, work well plowing sod, but will plug up when plowing corn stalks.

A 10 ft. length of #9 wire fastened to the coulter arm works better in corn stalks (some of you will know about the wire trick).

That looks like a clamp for a rolling cutter, OR rolling coulter as there sometimes called. IF SO, I never had a problem with them, nor did my dad.

That clamp is on the left side of the yoke that holds the rolling coulter. Not on beam as would be needed to hold what you are thinking of.

My other Coulter doesn’t have that clamp and is different. It doesn’t have a fork does anyone know which one is original for a no 8?

This pick is from a plow newer than a No. 8 can be. The one side mounted blade will not plug with trash like the coulter in the yoke and after the factory decide the jointers were more trouble than they were worth. And also a jointer cannot be used with a fluted blade, has to be a smooth blade. As far as make I have no idea.
