How do you like it ?

Got one like it that is three point mounted. Go like a bat out of heck in lighter hay or straw. Some times in heavier stuff the windrow will ball up if it can't get out the opening at the rear. I like mine and can take one side off and use it as a single rake for road ditches. Looks like that one may be two separate rakes also.

I have one its a 10 wheel with a kicker in the center, works well in big fields and I have a old new idea 5 wheel I use in smaller fields. both have there place I like the 10 wheel for the round baler, and I have found the 10 wheel works better if you pull is faster than you would using the older style rakes.

I have a carted style Kuhn rake, and is a joy to rake hay with, and bale behind. On my rake , there is a valve that I can flip, so one side will stay up, while the other side only will go into the raking position. Which is nice for flipping windrows.

Have one like the rakes but caddy is a little different. Mine has served me well. The pivot points on the rake frame take a beating so take a close look there. Replaced all the wheels one time but that would be the same on all rakes. My rake caddy will probably last forever.

I bought a new 8 wheel v rake and we can't seem to get it to close enough for our 4' round baler. Went back to our side delivery and have it for sale. Just don't want to leave a strip of hay laying in the field. Figure I must be doing something wrong but sure can't see what it is. Keith

One of my uncles has one just like that one. His is a sitrex. I had to rebuild one of the major pivot points, I think his worker hit something. It has lots of places for adjustment, he had to have the dealer out a couple times to get it set right. He has had it 10 or 15 years and has raked thousands of acres.

Same here. A Gehl. The baler sure makes a nice bale with the windrow that it lays down. I often think I'd rather have a pull type though. It would free up a tractor and fold hydraulically.

My uncle has a Long just like that. He's raked thousands of acres with it. I've got a gehl 418. I really like it. It's a real time saver.

SV i have the earlier version 10 wheel sitrex rake.. LOVE IT...saves alot of time.. THey have def improved these since buying mine many moons ago..

if one side can be use independent of the other they work good, if it only works as a double they don't work good in thick hay they will spill over the back and wad up from too much hay trying to be put in a windrow, neighbor has a 10 wheel Kuhn it works good but if the hay is real thick and you try to rake a full swat it gives problems, but because you are able to use it with one side raised you can easily adjust the swat being raked to produce a good windrow in thick hay, earlier this spring he was trying to rake some mixed grain hay and called saying he was having trouble with the rake and baler because the hay was so thick there was to much in the windrow and the windrow was spilling apart,I explained how to set the rake for one side only raking to reduce the windrow size he said that solved his problems.

I have an 8 wheel Sitrex, WITH the kicker wheel. It is model H90V8. I have found these kinds of rakes are the cheapest per foot of raking width that you can get. Of course a rotary rake is the best, but many more dollars and maint involved. Around here they cost about $3000 and I think they can be adjusted to 23 feet working width. They are ok once you learn how to use them but are far from perfect. As said, tremendous in lighter crop but you have to be careful in heavy first crop stuff. Newer models have a different cart that allows for better heavy hay flow. I think they are called speedrakes by Kuhn. My rake does not make a consistent windrow as I would like, but you can cover alot of acres fast with it. You can use one side in tight spots or to flip windrows. Strongly advise getting a kicker wheel model.

I'll get a picture for you when I have time and remember it. It's nice once it's on there, but it's a pain to put on,take off and fold.

(quoted from post at 06:45:52 09/25/18) I bought a new 8 wheel v rake and we can't seem to get it to close enough for our 4' round baler. Went back to our side delivery and have it for sale. Just don't want to leave a strip of hay laying in the field. Figure I must be doing something wrong but sure can't see what it is. Keith

Friend of mine bought one to speed up raking, his 4x5 baler had the standard 4' pickup, the rake was set for 5' windrows so we moved each side in 6" to make 4' windrows.
We were baling tall fescue and orchard grass that had a few tall weeds mixed in, we never got one single windrow made without balling up hay at the back wheels.
By the 4th windrow he folded it up, took it back to the dealer and got his money back, in tall grass a V rake does a good job making 5' windrows but can make a real mess when narrowed down for balers with 4' pickups.

I'd like to have a Vermeer hyd bar V rake but they cost to much for my size operation.
