NH 1412 discbine

Book says 80 hp recommended on a 1412 NH discbine. Anybody run it with tractors around 80 hp?

Yes, lots of folks do. In heavy hay going uphill you will want more if you like to cut fast.

I think the difference between a 1411 and a 1412 is roll vs flail conditioning I think. We have a 1411, 80 horsepower will run it. If you are cutting heavy/thick hay you may not be able to run 10 mph, but you can cut it, just slower like another poster said. They are a pretty heavy machine too. If you are cutting in some hilly country you could still do it, but more power is better. We ran ours with our 1755 Oliver, but we bought a 7040 Allis Chalmers which is 130+ horsepower and it handles it a lot better in our Southwest Missouri hills.
