Do I add a leaf spring or remove a leaf increase trip force ?

In my unprofessional opion it looks like adding a spring with push harder on the latch ? Making it harder to trip ?? I really wish I had a book

Add a spring. First check the pin. Make sure it isn't flattened on a side, Check the 'hook' to be sure it isn't rounded. And make sure there isn't a broken spring. BTDT.Or you can stick a bolt in the hole to prevent it from tripping,but not recommended......
 
It?s had a bolt in it but the rocks are so bad where I?m at I replaced the latch which was broken but then the bottom wouldn?t stay latched put the bolt back in made it one round and ripped the bottom off which I have done before not to big of a deal . Took it home and got inspecting the top of the shank one corner of it was chipped so I built it up with weld and reshaped it with the grinder

Well it still won?t stay in the ground ?parts look good? might try adding another spring it already has one more than all the other bottoms . I stole the latch off my 642 plow that was working so I don?t know . I?m about ready to give up on the custom farming I?ve already lost more than I?ll ever make trying to plow this miserable rock pile
