How involved/time consuming is it to completely replace a completely assembled set of knotters with a fully assembled set from a NH parts baler. 1 hour...one day?

I have pulled a knotter off and swapped them, retimed the unit and be testing it in 30 min or less,, just a few bolts, chain and the needle yoke rod,, then field testing and adjusting, but unless there is major issues with the unit I just fix whats wrong,, maybe the new balers with gear drive knotters take more time never pulled one off them yet

I'm not as fast as Tom cause I work slow. Just fix your knotter. Not a whole lot to wear out. Know a guy with a 330 Case that was a one owner from a dairy. Have replaced a couple of billhooks and chains. It has baled a lot of hay.

Nothing to be sorry about. Have a dealer do it here and it will be at least $1500.00 labor. Takes 2 guys and you better look it over good as stuff will not be done as it should be.

It will take longer than that if you shim the stack back to spec and adjust the needles to the new knotter frames. An hour to an hour and a half is reasonable for someone with experience and the desire to do quality work. A half day for a first timer with a manual and the same desire to get it right.

I have done may complete tear downs also, and your time frame it about spot on, they asked about changing out a complete kotter unit swap,, 4-6 bolts, a chain and a cotter pin does not take me long to remove and replace

a customer I had when I ran my repair shop dad passed away and the boys took over, (this was before they had me work for them) the Dad had bought a two new balers about 8 years before, one wire and one twine as he had a couple customers want wire tied bales,, it was like new, the twine one had been baling 150,000 a year or more and the chamber was worn thin and cracking,, so they had a NH dealer in another town swap the twine setup to the wire tie unit as it was like new yet,, they charged them 12000.00 I about fell over, its sad that is what you pay for these days,,

It was unclear to me whether we are swapping a pair of loaded knotter frames or the complete shaft with both knotters, cams, etc. Actually I had forgotten NH offered that type of full assembly. In my world it was more common that loaded frames would be slid on the existing shaft.
