467 baler

I use a JD 467 baler. I hit a hog dug hole and folded the crop divider under the baler breaking several pick (6 of the 8) up teeth and bending the shield protecting the small chain on the same side. I went ahead and finished, didn't have much left to do. I guess my question, what is the purpose of a crop divider? I did leave a trail of hay due to the pick up teeth missing, other than that, why replace the divider? I did fix everything, but if it happens again, may not.

Are you calling the end sheet a crop divider?? The purpose is to help funnel hay into the pickup. It also guides the hay into the pickup when your windrow is off center.

Ditto what JD Seller stated. If your baler is picking up windrow to your satisfaction without CD then you can leave crop divider off.

I should have also said it's a mega wide. Looks to me it channels the grass away from the pick up teeth. Baled my first bale 3 or 4 years ago, so I'm well seasoned hay guy, ha.
