Looking to reseed several grassy hay fields that need sprucing up. Some still have 10-15% alfalfa and clovers which is ok and understand I can t inject more alfalfa to fields with existing alfalfa, but what about adding more clovers seeds? I want to do a minimum invasive no-till approach but not sure which "no-til" drill will do the best job and not bust up the existing sod? Any advice I d appreciate greatly!

I am going to reseed some clover this fall going to have the neighbor do some with his no till drill and going to try some with just my conventional drill it will all be in old grass stands

If your not going to make a late cutting on those fields (late August/September)I would be tempted to just do a broadcast seeding. Doesn't get any less invasive than that. I think I would want to do it in a low stubble condition, like right after baling your last cut. We used to do that all the time in the spring (frost seeding) but the university people seem to think it can be done anytime to strengthen a stand. Also could run a packer over it if you wanted after broadcasting if you have softer/looser soil than the clay we have.

Coops and several private individuals in my area rent no till drills, they'll mix the seed and set the rate for you on the drill.I'd also run over the ground with a cultipacker or roller after drilling to smooth the ground out and press the seed to get a better stand.

Many Pheasant Forever chapters have a no-drill they rent out also. Goggle them and see where the nearest chapter is to see if they have a no-till drill available.

Great ideas guys. Your suggestions are not something I would have thought of. Thanks and I will check them out!
