Take that part number to a 'bearing house',or even to your local NAPA.They can look up and cross the bearing number.Take the old bearing as well for a sample the parts guy can measure, get the number.....You would be surprised on how much NAPA can get.It also helps to find the 'old guy' who has been there forever.

Those are called cam follower bearings. You should be able to find catalogs online. If you can find a number on it put it into Google or some other search engine.

I have spent hours searching the internet and my husband has taken it everywhere that we know to try to find it. I think the dimensions might be what is making it hard to find. I tried to sent those on a word doc and it would not go through. I may try that again. I have sent the pic and dimensions to many bearing places with no avail. One person said there might be 3 or 4 in Mexico. We have not tried that yet. I am going to try attaching the dimensions again for this forum.

Have you found the bearings you need? I believe I can get some. My E-mail is open....bottom right Classic view.

I just sent off Pics and Info to Shoup. The man I talked to does not think he has them. But if you have any more info or a link I would appreciate that.

They are used on tine bars, also baler feeders and plungers and a lot of other stuff. But in the catalogs they are cam followers. I was trying to help her search.

Most cam followers are tapered on the bearing edges whereas the tine bar bearings are flat across the face of the bearing. Have replaced both types in the last two weeks. Type in tine bar bearing with the part number and it pops up at Shoups.

I have talked to them on the phone and also sent pics and dimensions - he replied that they do not have them. I will do some more checking as you indicated. If you could send a link that would be wonderful.

It is not a cam follower a cam follower run in a track
on a baler pickup or swather to make the times go
in and out . This piece presses into a socket that
holds the tine bar to a star wheel on a rake

That looks like a cam follower bearing. They are available off the shelf in standard sizes from most any bearing supplier: Motion Industries, Granger, McMaster-Carr, maybe Fastenal, etc.

Look for a part number on one of the old bearings. Check for special features like seals and lubrication ports.

I have bought a lot of New Idea parts (some pretty rare) at a New Idea dealer in the last 10 years. It surprises me
that those are not available

Bought similar parts myself from my Agco dealer for our (even older) New Idea rake.

Agco took over New Idea's parts catalog.

MountainGirl, I assume that you've tried Agco...but maybe not?

Hopefully this link will work...

Have you looked here:

Yes, I think I have sent to Arco parts. I have not received a positive reply from them yet. Thanks so much for sending it. I will probably retry.

If I am not mistaken, I am quite sure that my husband actually talked to a dealer that is the closest to us by phone. It might not hurt to use the link that you sent and try that.

I put one in a New Holland 256 rake last year. It was a bear, even with a torch, I still didnt get it all the way in.

Is it belt or gearbox driven? Think they were basically the same rake except for the drive,I've seen both types and 'think' they'd use the same parts on the actual raking mechanism.
But they Could be different.

AGCO part number 618MEA. 2 3/64" O.D. 3/4" threaded shaft=slotted. Still, they may not be available from AGCO.

Yours is a 400?

OK...this is what I have...

I went to the Agco Parts Book

Logged in as a guest.

Searched for model 400 and brand New Idea.

It came up with a Table of Contents on the left side of the screen

Under the Table of Contents, look down the list until you see "No. 400 Parallel Bar Side Rake"

Don't click there... look just below that for "Reel Heads and Tooth Bar..." CLICK THERE...

A diagram will come up.

I think what you need is the following:

Item 3, Part # 612ME , Dust Cap
Item 4, Part # 208230MI, Snap Ring
Item 5, Part # 618MEA, Tooth Bar Bearing Assembly, 2-2/64" OD, 3/4" Threaded Shaft, Slotted.

Check those numbers with your local Agco dealer.

Good luck

That`s the part no that we have been working with 618 MEA, my original post has that listed.

Yup...

Hmmmmm.

Maybe try the Agco dealer that I use....

I've bought some old bearings for my Hesston Haybine and my New Idea rake from them that they essentially cross referenced from the old Hesston and New Idea part numbers to modern bearing numbers.

Maybe they can find something for you?

There is also still a brick and mortar bearing store around here that might be able to look it up for you:

Kaman Bearing:

Are there any numbers on the bearing itself? On the races or anyplace like that? The OEM number that you have (and that I found from Agco) is a New Idea part number... Agco and New Idea don't make bearings.

The bearing is made by another company, and its original part numbers may be stamped somewhere. It's usually in really tiny numbers on one of the races....

A place like Kaman Bearing would want to know what that stamped number is.

Even that is still a tough nut to crack.

It appears that the bearing number is for the bearing itself..not the cam follower pin that has been put through it.

DARN!

I'm a degreed engineer. I find parts for a living (mostly electronics...but some mechanical)...and this one has me stumped.

The website for MiSumi actually lets you build your own cam follower bearing...select a bearing...select a cam follower pin...

Even there, I can't find a match.

So...that leads me to...can that cam follower pin be pressed out of the bearing that you have, and could a new bearing be pressed on???

You might be able to find the bearing by itself.

Do you have a local machine shop?

You maybe able to press the old bearing off, and a new bearing on. On my Massey Ferguson Model 20 rake the tine bar bearings were around $25.00 each, I found I could press the old bearings off, and buy just the bearings for $4.00 each (when you have to replace all 10 like I did it saved me a bit of money).

I am not really coming up with a website for Timken-Fafnir in Clarkesville, Tennessee.

I am finding some of their bearings at different places but not direct to them. Do you know the best way to get their website?

I found a Kaman Industrial Technologies. Would this be the same? Probably not but thought I would ask. I will call the number that you provided also. Thanks

Try MROSupply.com first
MROsupply Customer Service Team
888-671-2883. They got the bearings that i needed( not your type) from Timken. If that doesnt work then try the Timken Company official site and click on contact. You might need to talk to an engineer as you have the bearing dimensions. I dont know for sure, but all rake manufacturers may have used the same bearing assemblies on their tinebars. Your bearing pics look like the CNH bearings used in my NH 256 rake. I dont have a spare to check the measurements but you might call Messicks Tractor parts and ask them to measure a tinebar bearing so you could compare it to yours. Look up 256 rake bearings on fleabay just to see some pics. This site may be able to pick one off the shelf and measure it for you. They might have what you need.

O.K. guys, I have sent out several inquiries from all of your suggestions. Lets see what happens! Sure appreciate all of the time that you have all put into this project. :)

I searched google for BCA 6586 bearing, then went to NICE-RBC bearings. Try this, it shows 3 different tine bar bearings and dimensions on a PDF. Happy trails.

Yea TF, if I had to, I'd buy the right size bearing with the right size hole and put a bolt through it and make my own shoulder with a spacer. Where there is a will there is a way.

I just bought a New Idea 400 and it needs a few new tine bearings. The bearings I need are identical to what OP posted at the beginning of this thread. I read through all the posts a couple of times and everyone had ideas about who to call but I m not sure if the OP or anyone has ever found the new bearings. I talked to Shoup and they do not have the bearings for the 400. They only have bearings for 410, etc. which are smaller in diameter.

Anyone know of a place that definitely has them? Thanks. :D

Any luck finding these bearings. I just bought a nice New Idea 400 too but needs a few new bearings. . About to miss hay season!
