7200 JD Planter

Hello, wondering about getting either 7000 or 7200 jd planter or kinze 2000.
Do any of these have monitors or capability of having seed sensor monitor? Any
advise or suggestions are appreciated.

Kinze 2000 used a couple different monitors if the the dickey John built with the Kinze name on it the km1000 or dj1000 won't count seeds per acre but will tell you if it's planting or not. A km3000 or dj3000 will count acres and also tell population in seeds per area. The last few yeArs of the production of the 2000 planter Kinze built their own monitor and called it a KPM1 and soon followed with the KPM2 I don't have experience with the kpm1 but the kpm2 does area and population. There were a lot of improvements made to the row units from the 2000 series to the 3000 series Kinze planters and the first of the 3000s have been out over 15 years maybe closer to 20 years,I would recommend looking for a 3000 planter and most of them would have a kpm2 or kpm3 monitor which are good monitors. I have run both a 2000 and 3000 series planter with the 2000 having the km3000 monitor and the 3000 having a kpm2 monitor I don't have experience with a jd planter other than Kinze 2000 series is almost identical to a 7000 jd

More than what can be gotten in here in a reasonable paragraph but the older planters can be upgraded to newer systems. Just a matter of what you want to spend and if a used take-off happens to be available. If you want the fancy systems that can check population by row, distance between seed drops, and so forth then I would check out what companies such as Precision Plant have to offer. Quite a few older planters have neglect when it comes to the monitor system so it can pay just to start over with a new system on that old planter if you are expecting to keep that planter for a while.

Any of those three planters could be fitted with a planter monitor, from the old simple blinks lights that only lets you know it's dropping seed, to a fancy PP 20/20 monitor that gives you individual row percentages to the nearest few seeds per acre.

They also can be fitted with all sorts of upgrades and improvements, depending what you want and want to spend.

The 7000 and the 2000 are very similar. The 7200 a little easier to upgrade to the real fancy stuff. The 7000 is rock solid easy and simple.
