I bought a new to me MX5 hog that?s about 11 months old. I?ve been using Dorsey and Covington hogs all my life. I still have two Dorseys and Covington 5 footer. The Dorsey?s are in need of some major deck repairs and one needs a new set of gears in the gearbox.
I don?t believe the MX5 is going match up to the old hogs but will probably cut grass much better than the old ones. I can now work on the old Dorseys to try to make them as new.
Someone on the forum probably knows where an old Dorsey or Covington Cutter might be laying around. They were made in Dothan Alabama from the mid 50s thru the early 80s. Dorsey was made by Dorsey trailer company and bought out by Covington planter company.
They were rated to cut 4-1/2? saplings. The MX5 is rated at 2? material.
