I'm pretty impressed buy the ol girl especially after the keyboard farmers told me it was junk and would never run again.

an idea s.v., on both my case and ih sickle mowers there is a skid plate on both the inner and outer shoe, I have lowered both down (raises cutter bar higher off the ground) to give a little more clearance for mole hills rocks etc. I just watched your video and your bar seems close to the ground? can your shoes be adjusted?

Good sharp sections and good ledgers/guards and any mower will cut. Also your cutting lighter grass hay and that really helps too. I think your in a pretty dry area too. You take heavy hay that stays damp at ground level and that is really tough to mow.

I e got the bar adjusted as high as it'll go may have to modify the shoes to get a little more height

I got rid of the ledger plates and put the new style double guards on per the advice of the fine fellows on this board . I'd really like to get in some good heavy hay with this thing and see how it does cutting this thin stuff I can run in 6th gear and 1500 rpm cut the road ditch on the way home and I was in 7th gear and 1500 taller grass than this and a little thicker 6th is fast enough in the field I think

Looks like your No. 8 mower is cutting just fine with the new knife and double guards.

It is easy for a very few "[i:654c4848f0]keyboard farmers[/i:654c4848f0]" to give advice from their air conditioned shade.

Nice Job! She is cutting Very Nice,, the hay sounds just fine,, like my Dad always said anything beats a snowbank and yours still has nice color to it,, should make the Moos happy and well fed, I always feel the grasses have the most "power" when mature

There is lots of old growth in it this piece hasn?t been hayed or done anything with in the last 20 years

Thanks I need to get a real camera sometime this phone camera won?t take a full screen video without it bieng sideways I am going to try it again today

My experience is that if a sickle mower cuts well in light grass it will do just fine in heavy thick going. That grass looks like it won't take but a couple hours to dry, especially as dry as the air is in Idaho.

Still a little tough but there enough old growth in it I bet I could almost
bale it right behind the mower . Will finish cutting today rake tomorrow
and bale tomorrow or the next day
