Just got one of these at an auction, can someone tell me what oil it uses and how to change it in the bar and gearbox?

Thanks

We have a CM240, which I think is very similar, but older mower. It has a check/fill/drain plug for the gear box and right underneath that, a drain plug for the cutter bar. The check/fill plug for the cutter bar is on the back edge of the bar, about two feet from the drive end. You leave the bar in the upright position overnight to check oil level in the cutter bar. Check the gearbox with the bar down. Drain them both with the bar up. I use 85w90. They are cutting machines. What tractor are you using to run it?

Thanks where do you find 85/90?

Planning on using either our IH 684 or 706 depending on where we are cutting.

You can get 85W90 gear oil at any auto parts store. I usually get the quart bottles with the tapered spout, it will fit into the fill hole for the cutter bar.
