I do not recall seeing this anywhere, I am replacing the airbags on my 855, learned a good
trick, air up the bags first, secure the chain forward, this will make removing the bags much easier...
Any other tricks would be appreciated.

Raneys Chrome shop in Florida, $260 or so each, versus over $450 from new holland. Goodyear 1R12-158.

Thanks Leo - I replaced one last summer with hay ready to bale, and NH bit me pretty hard. I'm thinking about having one sitting on the shelf for emergencies, but I wonder about "shelf life".

Mine was holding air, but would drop 15 psi on the first bale. It caught me by surprise - lucky no rain, so finished the next day.

Mine would hold 50 psi for more than a week, empty, but on each bale it was dropping 10 psi or so. new ones should be here tomorrow. hoping to cut the last 15 acres Saturday.

I guess I am keeping this baler now.

Leo, mine is an 848. It seemed pretty easy to change the bags on it - I don't remember any problems. The sheet metal seemed to be a bigger deal than the bags. I went by the instructions in the manual. Good luck with the project.

I like my old baler - it's low hours and fits my older smaller equipment.

PJH, I like mine too, if yours is an 848, i believe that uses a different airbag. I think I saw a post with the Goodyear number for an 848, just do not remember what it is.
Mine is taken apart, agree the sheet metal was the biggest pain so far.

Thanks,

Leo

A thread on removing the air bags

And a thread on substitute air bags....I found a Goodyear 1R12-103 works.

And here's a link to an air bag on ebay that supposedly crosses to the Goodyear bag for $97 each....have no idea if they're any good

Got the new Goodyear bags installed, baler works way better now.

The sheet metal is the worst part of the entire job.
