4x5 netwrap production

Just curious, anyone know how long it takes them to roll and net wrap a 4x5 ON AVERAGE? I don't want to hear any stories about how you made 50 in one hour in perfect conditions with a tailwind. If you do know, also mention the tractor you are using when baling.

Too many variables to give an accurate answer such as mph traveled, windrow size, # of bales per acre. In two 4X5.5 bale to acre hay,3 nine ft swaths raked together, baling at 6 mph I can average around 25 bales per hr. Most Coastal Bermuda fields around me are too rough to travel much over 6 mph.

I've got a Class 280 baler with 150hp on the front, owned it for about 10 years now, in ideal conditions I've managed 40 bales per hour, but that was traveling about 10mph, that doesn't happen very often.
I'm happy if I can do 6mph, which usually get me 25 to 30 bales per hour, 16ft swath, around3 bales per acre. Bales weigh about 1300lbs most years.

Thanks guys. I see I did neglect to specify this is for 4x5 net wrapped DRY HAY and not baleage or otherwise (which I think might bale slower....).

So that sounds like about 2 minutes per bale. Sounds very fast to me to be able to make a bale, I would have guessed more like at least 5 minutes per bale. Would think just wraping and ejecting would take at least 2 minutes without forming the bale.

How long it takes to roll a bale depends on how thick the hay is, how big of a windrow the rake makes which is determined by the rakes size and how wide of a swath it will rake up, also how fast one drives which can vary from 4-9 mph.

Time to wrap the bale, open the tail gate to eject the bale, close the tail gate and begin baling again usually take 30-45 seconds.
I twine wrap my bales which adds another 30-45 seconds.

I bale dry grass hay into 4x5 bales that will average 750-800 lbs using a 72 hp tractor, most of my fields will average 5-7 bales per acre but orchard grass stools make the fields a bit rough so I only bale around 5.5 mph, from the time I start rolling till I've wrapped the bale, ejected it and start rolling the next one is around 2 1/2 to 3 minutes, thin hay adds more time between bales.
Net wrap would take 30-45 seconds less time per bale.

Destroked 450
If it takes you 2-1/2-3 minutes to bale a 4X5 rd bale in a field yielding 5-7 bales per acre you probably should consider changing brand(COLOR) of rd baler. If you think Orchard grass stools are rough you need to experience some fire ant mounds.

That's not a bad average, half the time is spent wrapping the twine, ejecting the bale, closing the gate and starting again.
I have some fields I can run faster in but that would require a bigger tractor than I have.
I'd like to have a 85 hp tractor but my 72 hp tractor is in good shape and paid for, in my case the color of the baler wouldn't make any difference.

That wrapping, ejecting and starting sure takes less time than I thought would take to just open to eject. Never watched one work.
