Question on the billhook drive pinion. My baler broke the knotter and main drive shear bolts the other day, when I looked at it the left hand bill hook was only half way through its cycle while the right hand had completed the cycle, thought pinion drive pin had sheared, however when I pulled the knotter and drove the pin out it was intact. I had purchased the replacement pins and combined they are longer than the single pin that was installed. Was there a change in this pin sometime during the production years?

No, but there is an alternative hardened pin that you may have been sold. Make sure the pin doesn?t interfere with the pinion meshing with the cam. The bill hook probably got out of time because of excessive knotter stack end play. Your operator manual can instruct you on correcting this problem.
