JD 530 Baler Thoughts

When I am baling and the bale is made, I stop and back up while the twine arm sweeps and ties the bale. I dump it and then move forward into the windrow and start another bale.
So my question is this;
When the bale is made and the light on the monitor comes on and the arm starts to sweep does anyone just turn out of the windrow and keep moving while it is tying and then stop next to a close bale that is already made and unload there?
It seems to me it would keep you from backing up all of the time and also have a few bales close to each other for loading.

I do, depending on the field or location of adjacent bales. My thinking is that I'm going to be driving around the field with a loader moving the bales at a later point, and I'm already running the tractor at full RPM while tying; might as well move the bale somewhere more advantageous to shorten the amount of time driving between bales later rather than sitting stationary. I'll also do it on steeper fields where there may be a chance of a bale rolling away once it's dumped.

Thanks for the reply. It make a lot of since to drop the bale close to
another one. Then just get back on the windrow and continue.

You are going to have to circle around with either the loader picking up bales, or with the baler picking up stray bits of windrow.

Sometimes it makes sense one way, sometimes the other. Your new way, you will be running the baler longer, putting more wear on it.

If one disengages pto after bale is wrapped then the wear on baler you referred to will be eliminated

My neighbor does. Drops the bales in groups of 14. That's what he gets on his trailer. Been doing it for several years.

Well your going to increase your baling time a lot. The reason being after you drop the bale your going to have to drive back to where you quit baling. I would rather NOT drive around with a full bale in my baler anymore than I have to. Also how are your going to get back to your windrow without crossing over other raked hay???

To me your moving the job from a low maintenance machine, loader/bale spear, to a high maintenance machine your baler.

It is a moot point to me as with mesh wrap the bale is done in under 30 seconds so I would not be driving very far anyway. LOL.

Turn out of the windrow towards the baled hay. If you do that then you won?t have to cross any windrows to pick up where you left off it.

I do, works for me, I have my baler set to put on as much twine as possible. Buy the time I make the circle, drop the bale I am back at the windrow and starting another bale.
