I'm resurrecting my 1209 mower conditioner, my problem is the loop end on the float spring broke. Does anyone know of a simple repair?. Could I heat it up and bend a new loop and just readjust spring tention? I ordered new ones but they are 4 weeks away and as normal I need to cut sooner than that. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Heat and bend a new end will work but the heat takes the temper out and it will break again. But it might get you by untill your new parts show up. I welded a float spring that was broke in the middle on a sickle bar mower and so far so good. I only use it to trim mow after hay making so if it fails no big deal. Tom

I've done the heat and bend on the float spring on my 1207. Lasts about one season then breaks again at the bend.

So after I bent a new loop and let it cool to cold, I put it back together and the other end broke. Then I repeated the process to only have it break in the center!!!!!!!!!. YES I know it's junk. So in desperate need of something I used a ratchet style chain binder and a western snow plow spring. Lifted the Ole girl up and went and finished the job, and it actually worked really good. Just waiting on the new ones now.
