Anybody here have experience with these?

Any comment on how their drying effectiveness compares to your typical "star" tedder?

Looks like this...

They will not dry near as well as the rotary tedder and your travel speed will be much slower. The only advantage is if the hay is to dry they will ted it with less leaf loss. I have had both and now would not want to make hay without my rotary teddder. Tom

I'm building a toy model of a 710 tedder. Would like to find better close up shots of the left side of the reel to see how it works.

I've used them. I would only buy one that
is in top condition. Some folks lift them
on trailers to sell and bend the bars, and
ruin them. They have a lot of moving arms
that can get bent over time, or create
problems if not greased well. Decent
fluffer and not expensive. Like anything,
look around and pick one that is in best
condition for price.

They work good, but they aren't as aggressive as a rotary. They do more "fluffing" than spreading out.

That makes sense.

I saw one at a reasonable price. I wanted a second tedder, as I already have a rotary.

My rotary gets beaten up badly on rough ground, though.

I was sort of hoping that this style would handle rough ground a little better. Seems like it would.

If it's not quite as good at drying, I think I can suffer with that, as long as it works passably and saves my rotary from tearing itself apart when one of those little wheels drops into a woodchuck hole.
