Good morning, I'm new to the site, looking for any info and a hub for Oliver 391 running gear any input appreciated

I almost think that they were manufactured for Oliver by the Electric Wheel Company. If so, that might help expand your search. If not, someone else may be able to help you.

Jeff -I know for a fact they were in the 1960's. Dad bought an Oliver #5150 flare box wagon and an Oliver 5026 8 ton gear. Both had Oliver green paint and decals, but the serial number plates both said Electric Wheel, Quincy, Illinois. Wagon box held 150 bushel of small grain or shell corn, with two feet of side boards it held close to 200 bushel of ear corn, hense, the 8-ton gear.

Look on the back side of your existing hub, there will be a raised "Q" and a three digit number. Then call Baum Hydraulics in Omaha. They carry hubs for the electric Wheel gears. Have them send you a copy of their catalog.

Dr. E thank you for the response. I was almost positive, but didn't want to steer the OP wrong. Now I know for sure.

If you can post the number cast into it someone may just have a used one. I may have one as well, but I need a number and how many bolts would help. Stuff got moved around lately but I can check.

I believe your right looking at the steering assembly it resembles pics of certain electric wheel gear. For general info purposes the spindle is straight 1.374 both bearing, inner is i believe 14126a with extended inner race. This is to accommodate the seal inner wiper. The outer bearing is 14137a they use same race 14276, 2.71 od

Thanks I have searched numerous hub and spindle suppliers and have yet to find any thing with my spindle and or bearing dimensions. The gear was given to me by dads brother its restoreabel and the hub still will hold its races but it has some chunks broke out of the area that goes around the area that goes around the innerside of the spindle. I really appreciate everyone's input, all of you thanks

Don the casting is hH986 posted the spindle and bearing
info on the forum. Thanksfor you input. Its appreciated

I really need to look, it sounds an awful lot like a share hub I had around for a while. Things got moved to my place from the farm, hopefully that didn't get tossed in the scrap. I'll see if I can look in the next few days.

I'm coming up empty. Most likely wound up in the "what would I ever need that for" pile and got scrapped about 4 months ago.

If you can get the measurements they give you for hubs on Shoup's website,I think that hub was common enough that one of the ones they have should work. I feel like they used to have more measurements listed than what they show today.

My neighbor says that early JD running gears used these big hubs. Maybe check it out.

I have a 391 gear or “Farm Truck No. 391” gear.
Working with Oliver Heritage magazine they researched it and said they were built in 1939-1941. Mine is a 1940.

During this time frame they were built by Peru in Peru, IL. It was called a Peru-Oliver wagon or as their literature states a “Oliver Farm Truck No. 391”.
Peru moved out of IL in 1941 and was absorbed by Electric wheel.

This was very interesting to learn the history of the gear.

I was informed that they are a rare fine.

Mine is now ready for paint , New 6:00 -16 tires and decals.

Been a fun project.

These wagons were only built in a two year span
