I went in and replaced a few bearings on the outside of the roll and one on the inside(gearbox side) but once it all went back something had to be vibrating the roll enough to back the set screw out and allow for the entire dang universal that drives the roll to fall off and out and is now lost. This happened twice and I was able to find it once. I need to figure out the set up on the rolls and drive unit. This is the second 1207 we have had and I have worked on them from the very first time we started using them. It just doesn't make sense. set up directions and any idea on what would cause that universal to kick off would be great.

thanks

Email's open, send me yours and I'll send a pdf of the service manual that someone on here graciously gave me. Did the universal come off the roll or separate at the splines? There's a large bolt that holds it on, it should be locktited. Did you have the rolls timed properly? Are the u-joints in phase? There is a pretty good angle to the shafts so being out of phase could cause that. And there is a proper direction to tighten the bearing collars. Manual will explain it.

When you installed roll drive shafts did you have yokes on each shaft timed(phased) correctly?

It has been a year and a half ago since I worked on it.(I had my neighbor use his haybine while I used our rake and we both baled and stacked in order to help one another out. It looks as though he may not be in a position to do that this year due to time constraints on our schedules so I need to get my 1207 going. I am certain they were phased properly because I turned the machine multiple revolutions by hand before buttoning everything up and reinstalling all the guards/covers.
