Another sisal question....

Curious on max storage life some of you have had with sisal kept indoors. I found couple balls Brazilian in my basement approx 4 yrs old, looks good still. For small squares on my old S68 NH. I run a bale basket and need good twine for that. Finn.

I think it will last for ever if its kept dry and out of direct sunlight. Dry is most critical - I don't think wet twine will run in anybody's baler.

I've got 3 bales in the shed for an AC Round baler. Probably been there 20 years. Pulled some out yesterday to set up an addition to the honey processing shed. Looks like new yet. As a matter of fact I might air up the tires on the old baler and use it this summer. Make a memory with the grand kids.

The sisal I put in the square baler is several years old. Been buying it off the same pallet from the dealership for the last 10 years anyways. No one else has been buying it :)

If you have troubles with it, don't mess with the knotters, just go buy some new twine. If it doesn't have the unique smell of sisal, it is getting old. I would not buy it.
