Hello, I have a set of AC 4 bottom plow 3pt hitch with gauge wheel. I have the plows pretty much set to go but am having a few problems. They have new points, moldboards and shoes on them. I cannot get these plows to dig into the ground and give me a nice furrow, they are cutting fine but only about 2-3" down. Im looking for 8...does anyone have an idea on a different adjustment?? The gauge wheel is also not sitting completely flat on the ground but when I bring the back down the front does not sink down and cut. I have them leveled front to back and side to side as best I can.

Thanks,
Harrison

You probably have a Transport valve that you can adjust to lower the rear of the plow slightly after the front is lowered..

Have you checked the Heel and is it adjusted.?

What type of soil are you trying to plow?
New shares should penetrate durned near any soil conditions..

Remember that when turning the adjusting crank, Crank it to SHORTEN that part, to put the front deeper into the ground..
That is known as the "Beam Adjustment".,
When the rear tries to go in and the front not, the plow is "Over-Beamed" ( Adjusted incorrectly).. in this case, Shorten that upper (crank) adjustment..

Only a few turns will make a big difference..go the wrong way and it may not go in the ground..

I tried to finish plowing in a field with a wide streak of Black Wax across the field..
The fiend had gotten too dry.. Plow pulled very very hard..had to give up and wait for rain because I started breaking the Cover-Boards off..
and if a tire slipped, it would leave Black rubber on the hard ground..!

I caught myself...forget the reference to "Crank" and check the lower links of your 3-Point..they may need to be lowered for plowing..at least the Right side to keep the plow level, with the tractor in the furrow..

You can drop the point of the share a little bit
legthing the the left hand lift on your tractor and that
will make the plow dig in a lot deeper our ground
around here is so hard if you run the plow
completely level it will not do anything but scratch

Thanks for the information. Im plowing in silty loam, very easy soil to penetrate. Im running with a massey ferguson. The left arm doesn't have an adjustment only the right so im struggling with the options I have. The plows themselves also have a crank adjustment for the 3pt hitch arms, which rotate around on the same shaft, not sure if this might have something todo with it. I guess I'll just have to keep playing with them.
