Converting a 6 row planter to 4 row

I have the chance to get a 6 row 7000 john deere planter for a good price but i need to plant 4 row to correlate with my mounted cultivator. Am i asking for trouble if i want to take the 2 outside units off and run it 6 row?

BTW the 6 row is $1000 cheaper then a 4

Should be able to fairly easy. The markers would be the biggest challenge.

It will be easy and those 2 extra row units are worth good money. Guys like to build plot planters or a 1 or 2 row planter to replant.

That's kind of a backwards deal, but is what it is I guess!

Going to be tough to set up the markers.

Just kind of a shame to take apart a 7000 6 row, they are worth about the most of any of the 7000s around here, $5-9,000 for a good one with
fert. Never see a 4 row go over $2750 here.

If using a wfe tractor you may be able to set the markers to line up with the outside tire.

Might be easier to buy a 6 row cultivator
