sisal twine - Did NH quit selling it

Looking to get more twine for my baler and I had some on shelves for many years and finally used it. Went to the NH website and can't find sisal twine available anymore. I believe it was the NH 9000? So is NH out of the sisal twine business? Neighbor having issues finding good sisal twine. Any suggestions?

NH probably did quit sisal. But there are probably still some mfgers of it. If it's like our 'local' Jd dealer, they quit selling all twine/wire because it didn't make eM "enoughmoney". If fact they quit selling anything that didn't say "JohnDeere" on it.You know, the stuff that bring nonJD people(like meLOL) in the door. Do you really 'need' sisal? can you use plastic? If your baler can handle plastic,I think you would be happier with it than sisal.

Read that in the last year or two, they quit. Think they were having a hard time finding good quality too, not worth the hassle.....

I've always used the 'brazil' brand Runnings sells, works ok. Don't know any different.

I have been using several different brands of 9000.
The tractor supply brown sisal twine works fine in both of my New Holland square balers.
I actually prefer the Southern States green sisal. Much easier to see when breaking bales open for the animals.
I have been looking for a source for orange sisal but no luck.
Actually the twine i paid the most for, at the local farm store, was the worst and the most prone to breakage twine I bought last year.

The supply of sisal twine has fallen big time and if you can find it the cost has gone up 2-3 times over what is was a few years back. Last time I checked sisal twine was around $75 for a box of it which is a lot higher then a couple years ago

Farmerjack, where are you located? I work for a CNH dealer in Nebraska. We have sisal on hand, it is 7200 x 160 balls.

I live in Madrid, IA. I was hoping for the 9000 as I used my last balls of that last fall. Not ruling out 7200. Is that NH sisal? if not whose is it?

I used to get mine at the family center, quality got so bad I gave up. A few friends of mine work for John Deere. They said "try the stuff we sell, got a good price on it". Local dealer is now a mega dealer but they sell a good quality twine. I picked up enough last fall to last a couple of years. It does not say JD on it. $39.00 each.

we can still get sisal twine up here from our local ufa dealer, bought 4 rolls last year for my 336 baler when it was giving me trouble tieing the knot. (turned out that wasn't the issue.)

I?ve had good luck with this stuff. JD dealer carried it and then stopped. Saw it again at tractor supply after they had ran out of their brand twine.

Absolutely. Use 7200 plastic in the square baler (CIH 8530) and 20000 plastic in the round baler (JD 330) and like it for both. Much cheaper than the sisal twine is. Most I get from our CIH dealer. They seem to have the best price here.

Last I knew there was only a couple factories in Brazil (I think) that made the sisal twine for everyone.

New Holland?s longtime sisal supplier went out of business 3-4 years back. NH had NO sisal twine for one year then for the last two years has contracted with Briden to rebrand their Brazilian sisal twine. It is of similar quality to the old New Holland branded twine but has even more of a premium price than it did.

It would be a problem for several of my neighbors if John Deere quit selling John Deere branded twine. They would probably go out of the haying business before being caught using non John Deere twine.

I've gotten it from New Holland the last two years. It's only a few dollars more then Tractor Supply had it advertised for.

But is it New Holland twine? Or something else your dealer is getting from another source? That is done a lot.
