Yes, its a john deere KBA disk.

Educate me some please. What does KBA stand for? I saw a disk on tractorhouse, a JD 10. Are these the same?

We had a KBA when I was a kid and it had spoke wheels and chains to lift the disc so I think it is a JB like the one in the 1948 Furrow Mag.---Tee

You could get a KBA either way, drawn type or wheel carried. I have one of both.

Yours was the KBA with the optional wheel carrier unit that could be bought to convert a drag type to wheel carried when owner got a tractor with hydrolic lift so he could raise it. His is not the lighter JB series.

KBA is just a model. Anything with a digital number like the 10 would be a lot newer and bigger and heavier.

I can't tell you exactly what model it is but it is very similar to the JD KBA that I used to have. My KBA was on wheels but there is very little that is different other than that.

I've looked at the KBA and the JD 10 drag disk and cant see any difference. Could someone tell me what I'm missing please? Thanks

I have never heard of a 10 drag disk and been around them for years, am 74 and in all my books no mention of a 10 disk, I figured to have a 10 in number it would have been either a wheel carried or 3 point hitch from the 70's up and the KBA was last built in the 50's. So if anybody knows anything about a 10 disk lets hear it.

The number in model as far as I know came out after drag disks were no longer being made and was a disk for the 4020 or bigger tractor.

I was just thru the John Deere parts site and they have no disks with a number of 10, a 100 that is a drag type offset and a 110 but those are the closest numbers to that. So tell us where you are finding a picture of a no 10 to compair the KBA to? Is it in an add someplace that the poster might have advertised it as a 10 having 10 blades on a gang? And that would make it an 11'2" disk. All I can think of.

OK, that tells me the person that has it on there does not know what he is talking about. That is a KBA and as neer as I can see it is a 7 blade per gand and that makes it an 8'8" disk and from early 40's to late 50's. There id nothing 10 about that disk. Just anouther person that thinks it is some thing other than what it is like the person that says he has a 1965 Ford 9N tractor that was only built in 1939 to early 1942. He is that far off of reality.

If it would be the 8 blade per gang that I cannot see that good it would be a 9'10" model and so he might just be trying to call it a 10 for 10'.

That is not a model but a part number. It is a KBA and I did count 11 blades on a gang so it would be a 12'2" model. And that is the widest unit they put a wheel carrier on, the 14 ft model they did not put a wheel carrier on.

I agree Southern Ray's disk harrow is a KBA & that KK prefix is on many JD disk harrow part numbers.

I disagree that 14' KBA couldn't be equipped with a wheel frame. Please read key 1 & footnote B that lists 14'

Manuals I have say it was only avaible with wheel carrier up to 12', They might have changed things after my books were printed. I just thought even a 12' would be a heavy load for that frame, In ground working not bad but traveling on a rough road, with the gangs bouncing. Mine was only a 7 blade for 8'8" cut and the frame had been welded from I think too much bounce of the gangs. And I had the spoke wheels with the straight roller bearings untill the bearings went bad and then got some spindals and wheels out of scrap yard anf had them welded in for the tapered roller bearings. The Amish now have it and did not like the flex part that is the reason I had it and welded it so it cannot flex.

All I have to go by is the parts catalog which states the <'54 & >'54 models in 14' width could be equipped with wheel frames. It appears 12' & 14' models utilized a different wheel frame than smaller models
